RANK OF THE FEDERAL AND CONFEDERATE ARMIES

These are the most common insignia used for Officer and Enlisted of the Confederate and Federal Armies.

Both of the blue colors shown for Marine and Infantry were used for infantry. Some state units also used black for infantry.

Both Armies used yellow for Cavalry, red for Artillery and blue for Infantry. Staff was black for Federal and buff for Confederates
